Bills sign kicker Michael Badgley to practice squad with Matt Prater ruled out Sunday

The Buffalo Bills signed kicker Michael Badgley to the practice squad Tuesday as they prepare to be without Matt Prater for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to a right quad injury.

Badgley, 30, most recently kicked for the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season, appearing in seven games. He converted 10-of-11 field goal attempts, a 91 percent success rate. His accuracy included a perfect 4-for-4 performance from 40 to 49 yards and two makes on three attempts from 50 yards or longer.

The veteran brings a steady track record. Dating back to the 2021 season, Badgley has connected on 56 of his 65 field goal attempts, an 86 percent success rate, while spending time with several NFL teams.

In a corresponding transaction, Buffalo released cornerback M.J. Devonshire.

The Bills will need to elevate Badgley or sign him to the 53-man roster by 4 p.m. Saturday.
