Victor advances in state downtown grant race

A push to revitalize downtown Victor just cleared a major hurdle at the state level.

The Village of Victor has been named a finalist for the NY Forward Downtown Revitalization Grant after its application was selected by the Regional Economic Development Council and Empire State Development.

Village officials partnered with the Victor Local Development Corporation on the application. As part of the next phase, the village will interview with the review committee on Dec. 18.

Village leaders credited strong public involvement for helping Victor reach finalist status. The grant effort included the “Our Voice, Our Vision, Our Victor(y)!” outreach initiative, which gathered ideas and feedback from residents, business owners, and community members.

“The level of participation from the community throughout this process has been inspiring, and because of that input, we are a strong contender for this grant funding which would truly propel the Village forward,” Mayor Sean McAdoo said.

Village officials said they will continue to update the public as the process moves ahead. Final award announcements are expected in early 2026.

Updates will be posted on the Village of Victor website.
