Two major housing developments in Newark are on track, promising a big boost to local housing, Mayor Jonathan Taylor told reporters.
The Coventry Commons project is quickly transforming a former factory into 101 apartments, with its third floor already finished and large new windows installed. Meanwhile, the long-vacant St. Elizabeth Hospital now has permits secured and will soon begin construction on 8–9 market-rate units.
Taylor says both efforts are part of a broader regional strategy — and expects Newark to look “definitely different” by 2027.
