Fleming Fire Department seeks new volunteers

A small town’s fire department is asking neighbors to step up and help protect their community.

The Fleming Fire Department is actively recruiting new members to serve the Town of Fleming, which has a population of about 2,500 residents.

Department leaders say they’re looking for help in many different roles, not just firefighting. Open positions include interior and exterior firefighters, apparatus operators, EMTs, and members to assist with fundraising and administrative work.

Fire officials stress that no prior experience is required. The department provides all training and gear at no cost to members.

Volunteers may also qualify for income tax and property tax stipends. Some members can earn pay while taking certain New York State training classes.

The department says residents from all backgrounds can contribute, whether they’re business professionals, laborers, teachers, or retirees.

Anyone interested or with questions is encouraged to send the Fleming Fire Department a private message to learn more about joining.
