A gunman opened fire inside a classroom at Brown University during final exams, killing two students and wounding nine others, according to the Associated Press.
The suspect, now in custody, was found at a hotel 20 miles from campus. Authorities recovered two handguns and loaded magazines, but a motive hasn’t been confirmed. The shooting triggered a campus-wide lockdown and canceled all remaining classes for the semester.
One student is out of the hospital; others remain in critical care. Investigators say over 40 rounds were fired. Brown’s president and city leaders praised students’ resilience and vowed continued support.
