New York delays cannabis tracking deadline

Cannabis retailers in New York just got a brief reprieve as a new tracking system rolls out, according to Spectrum News. State regulators pushed back the deadline to enter inventory into the Seed to Sale system to Jan. 12.

The Office of Cannabis Management said the extension follows concerns from retailers about meeting the original deadline during the busy holiday season. Licensees still must register with the Metrc system by Dec. 17, when the phased rollout begins.

The digital tracking system, required under the state’s cannabis law, aims to curb illegal products. Industry groups continue to criticize added compliance costs tied to product tagging.
