Syracuse men’s basketball returns to the JMA Wireless Dome tonight to host Saint Joseph’s, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. on the ACC Network.
The Orange (5-3) are coming off a thrilling 62-60 win over No. 13 Tennessee in the ACC/SEC Challenge, with senior J.J. Starling and William Kyle III delivering clutch plays in the final minutes to help end a three-game losing streak. With five non-conference games remaining before ACC play begins, Syracuse aims to build momentum and extend its perfect 5-0 record at home, where it has held opponents to 55.8 points per game and limited shooting to just 33.3 percent.
Saint Joseph’s (6-3) brings a four-game win streak into the Dome, most recently downing Coppin State 87-65. The Hawks are led by sophomore Deuce Jones II, Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, averaging 15.6 points per game, and Justice Ajogbor, a veteran defensive anchor in the paint.
This marks the ninth all-time meeting between the programs, with the series tied 4-4. The last matchup came in 2007, when Syracuse edged the Hawks 72-69 on a Jonny Flynn buzzer-beater.
