A third senior State Police leader is retiring as investigators probe the misuse of VIP credentials at the Ryder Cup, according to the Times Union.
Acting Staff Inspector Stephen Udice allegedly handed out dozens of free PGA passes to friends and family while overseeing security at the Long Island event. Two other top officials had already filed retirement paperwork as part of the internal investigation, which was sparked by photos showing police brass in exclusive tournament areas.
The case has now been turned over to the state inspector general. Critics say retiring allows these officials to avoid discipline while keeping full credentials.
