Syracuse women’s basketball continued its strong start with a dominant 88-42 win over Colgate, moving to 9-1 and securing its fourth-best opening stretch under head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. The Orange set the tone immediately, scoring the first 14 points and holding the Raiders without a basket for nearly six minutes. Back-to-back threes from Sophie Burrows and Laila Phelia helped push Syracuse to a 24-5 lead after one quarter.

Syracuse rotated heavily in the second period, and the bench supplied steady production as the advantage grew. Maddy Potts delivered a perfect shooting half with a layup and a three-pointer, while Burrows knocked down two more shots from deep. The Orange carried a 42-16 cushion into halftime.
The momentum never wavered after the break. Potts reached double figures for the first time this season, and Syracuse’s defense overwhelmed Colgate, forcing turnovers and limiting the Raiders to 12 third-quarter points. The Orange entered the final period up 64-28 before the starters closed out the win. Dominique Darius scored twice late, including a three, and Keira Scott paced the fourth quarter with six points. Thirteen players found the scoring column overall.
Syracuse’s stat sheet was stacked: Darius matched her career high with 10 assists and added five steals; Phelia reached double figures for the eighth straight game and went 4-for-4 at the line. The Orange piled up 55 rebounds, 33 made field goals, 20 assists, and 16 steals, each marking one of the team’s top totals this season.
Syracuse returns home next Tuesday to host Binghamton at 7 p.m. at the JMA Wireless Dome.
