A man tried breaking into a home in the Town of Union but was stopped cold—literally—by the homeowner wielding a snow shovel, according to WIVT.
Deputies say 42-year-old Nicholas Sacco broke a window and tried to enter the home Sunday evening. The homeowner caught him in the act and struck him repeatedly with the shovel, holding him down until police arrived. Sacco was found curled up on the ground and later charged in two break-ins, including one at a nearby hair salon.
He now faces felony burglary and criminal mischief charges and is being held at Broome County Jail.
