Geneva City Council is moving to create its smallest public parking lot to end a long-running dispute on Washington Street, according to the Finger Lakes Times. A unanimous vote advanced a proposal to designate off-street spaces near 101–119 Washington St. as a city-run lot with weekday time limits.

The spat involves Monaco’s Coffee and a neighboring property owner who allegedly harassed patrons over spaces the city says it owns. The new lot would set clear rules and give police authority to enforce them.

A final vote is expected in January with minimal added cost to the city.
