Geneva City Council has scheduled two special meetings next week at City Hall, both of which will be held in the second-floor conference room.
The first meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16. According to the agenda, the meeting will begin with a call to order by Mayor Steve Valentino, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call. The council will then enter executive session to discuss the employment history of a particular person before adjourning. No public action items are listed on the agenda for that meeting.
A second special meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, also at City Hall. That agenda includes a resolution amending a previously approved resolution related to the future of Loomis Woods. Council will consider amending Resolution 72-2025, which originally established a public hearing for comment on a proposed change in use of Loomis Woods from a city park and recreation area to sale for housing.
Under the amended resolution, the public hearing is now set for Jan. 7, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Geneva City Hall Council Chambers. The original hearing date had been scheduled for Jan. 4, 2025. The agenda also includes a discussion item on council foundation and orientation before adjournment.
Both meetings are open to the public, except for any portion conducted in executive session as allowed under state law.
