Finger Lakes Community College will bring a holiday classic to living rooms across the region this weekend with the broadcast of the Phelps Community Center Dance Studio’s performance of “The Nutcracker.”
The recorded ballet will debut Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. on Finger Lakes TV and air again that evening at 8 p.m. It will continue running weekdays at noon and weekends at 4 and 8 p.m. through Jan. 3.
The performance, recorded Dec. 6 at Midlakes High School, features dozens of students, instructors, staff, and volunteers from the Phelps Community Center (PCC) working together to bring the production to life.
Finger Lakes TV is available on Roku, Spectrum channel 1304 in the western Finger Lakes, the Cablecast app, and via live stream at fingerlakestv.org.
Following the debut of The Nutcracker on Dec. 14, kids can tune in to “Santa Call-In” at 6 p.m.—a live, interactive show where children can speak directly with Santa on TV. The phone number will appear on-screen during the broadcast.
Santa Call-In is part of a nationwide collaboration involving 20 community media stations across 13 states, coordinated by the Miami Valley Communications Council in Ohio.
The FLTV broadcast was made possible with support from the Village of Clifton Springs through cable franchise fee revenue. Originally created in the 1980s as a public access cable station, Finger Lakes TV now streams on multiple platforms and continues to share local performances and programming.
