Cordelio Power, owner of two solar farms under construction in Cayuga County, has sold energy to Microsoft from other projects — and could do the same here, according to The Citizen.
The Dog Corners and Scipio solar farms will generate a combined 38 megawatts, but current tax agreements don’t control where that energy goes. That’s raising concerns after Cordelio struck long-term deals with Microsoft for out-of-state projects.
Local officials say they want to keep that power in Cayuga County. The county’s Public Utility Service Agency is now exploring a deal to buy the energy and offer discounted rates to residents.
