FLCC winter concert coming up later this week

Finger Lakes Community College will host its annual Winter Concert on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m., featuring performances by student guitar and percussion ensembles.

The free event is open to the public and takes place in the main campus auditorium at 3325 Marvin Sands Drive in Canandaigua.

The guitar ensemble, directed by adjunct instructor Erik Gibelyou, will perform “Oblivion” by Astor Piazzolla, “The Washington Post” by John Philip Sousa, and String Quartet No. 2, “Company” by Philip Glass. Performers include Jesse Coon, James Derusha, Hayden Graczyk, Drew Palmer, Hunter Rumfola, Nate Sperber, and Timothy White.

The percussion ensemble, led by adjunct instructor Phil Lake, will perform “Herta Schmerta” by Ed Argenziano, “Elusive One” by Steve Pemberton, “Clockwork” by Lake, “Christmas Presence” arranged by Chris Brooks, and “Bound for Marakesh” by Brooks and arranged by Lake. Percussion performers include Thomas Duffy, Cian Healy, Nico Gurio, Sam Brache, and Kiernan Bolan.
