Micron drops Crucial brand to focus on AI

Micron Technology is shutting down its consumer brand Crucial in 2026 to focus on booming AI and data center demand, according to WSTM.

The company says it’s pivoting away from retail memory and storage to prioritize large-scale commercial clients. Crucial products will still be sold and supported through February.

Micron is also expanding globally — with a new chip plant coming to Hiroshima and U.S. projects underway in Idaho, Virginia, and Clay, New York. The Clay site will break ground in spring 2026, with the first fab expected to open by 2030.
