A crossing guard in Avon sprinted to safety and shielded two children as a garbage truck sped through a crosswalk and hit an SUV, according to 13WHAM-TV.
The October 30 incident, caught on doorbell video, shows Stephanie Lincourt reacting just in time. She says the truck “didn’t even slow down.” The driver was ticketed and fired, and Casella Waste Systems held a companywide safety retraining.
Lincourt received praise from the school district and hopes drivers take school zones more seriously.
