Cayuga lawmakers condemn ICE raid, stop short of policy change

Cayuga County legislators passed a resolution opposing a federal immigration raid at a Cato factory, calling it excessive and harmful, according to The Citizen.

The non-binding resolution criticizes the September raid that detained 69 workers, but doesn’t restrict local law enforcement from cooperating with federal agents. A proposal for a non-cooperation policy was discussed but not adopted.

Some legislators hinted stronger action may still be on the table.
