In November, the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to 30 calls, bringing their yearly total to 259. As colder weather settles in, the department is seeing more calls related to furnaces and chimneys.
Officials are reminding residents to inspect chimneys and make sure carbon monoxide detectors are working. The department also handled two motor vehicle crashes last month. With snow and ice on the roads, they’re urging drivers to slow down and use caution.
This Saturday, Dec. 6, BVFD Station 1 will host Breakfast with Santa. The morning wraps up with a fire truck escort for the big man himself.
Also on Saturday, decorated fire trucks and emergency vehicles will roll through the county as part of the annual Rick Frost Memorial Convoy. Officials say not to be alarmed if you see a long line of lights coming down your street.
The department will also take part in the Honeoye Falls Christmas Parade and the “Good Night Lights” event at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
BVFD held officer elections at its most recent business meeting. Eric Day was elected chief. Nate Miller will serve as first assistant chief, followed by David Stoddard as second assistant and Bill Clark as third.
Jeff Smith and Bob Frost were named captains. Scott Petrino and Randy Lund were elected lieutenants. Mark Francese will serve as president, with Ed Thomas as vice president. Amy Harter was elected recording secretary, Nikki Lund as corresponding secretary, and Maggie Deats as treasurer. Jeff Smith and Dave LaBarge were chosen as directors at large.
