Families in South Bristol can look forward to a brand-new playground coming soon to the Town Hall campus.
The Town Board voted unanimously to approve the project, which will replace aging equipment and serve a wider age range of children, from 2 to 12 years old. Officials say site prep is already underway, with installation set to begin in spring 2026.
Councilman Jim Strickland, who led the effort, said the new playground will offer a safe and updated space for local kids and families. Supervisor Dan Marshall emphasized that the project is being funded without raising taxes, thanks to strong county sales tax revenue and careful budgeting.
Council members called the move a “community-centered investment,” saying it adds value to the Town Hall grounds and creates another reason for families to gather. Councilwoman Meg Fuller, who’s also a parent, said the project reflects what makes South Bristol a place where people feel welcome and connected.
As she put it, quoting her daughter Maisie: “Yes!”
The Town says it will share more updates as construction gets closer.
