A Midlakes senior is heading to Rochester this week to perform with the best high school musicians in New York.
Kyle Bell, Class of 2026, has been selected to play tuba with the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State Symphonic Band — the highest honor a high school band student can receive in the state.
“Kyle represents the absolute best that we strive for in our bands at Midlakes,” said Will Hope, Secondary Band Director. “He is hard working, incredibly kind, and is always contributing his best every day. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and look forward to seeing him take the stage in Rochester.”
Bell earned his spot with an A+ rating on a Level VI solo at this year’s Solo Festival. He’ll join other top student musicians from across the state for rehearsals and performances at the NYSSMA Winter Conference, held December 4–7 in Rochester.
Bell will perform under the direction of Dr. Courtney Snyder from the University of Michigan.
