Federal and local law enforcement are investigating multiple bomb threats made against Sen. Chuck Schumer’s offices across New York.
The threats targeted Schumer’s offices in Rochester, Binghamton, and Long Island and were reported Friday morning. The email used to make the threats had the subject line “MAGA” and referenced claims that the “2020 election was rigged,” according to Schumer’s remarks on the Senate floor.
All staff and visitors are safe, Schumer said, and law enforcement responded quickly to secure the buildings and launch investigations. Security sweeps were conducted at each location.
“These kinds of violent threats have absolutely no place in our political system,” Schumer said. “No one—no public servant, no staffer, no constituent, no citizen—should ever be targeted for simply doing their job.”
Schumer thanked both federal and local law enforcement for their swift action. The investigation is ongoing.
