A $7 million boost from NASA and Schmidt Sciences is fueling a major tech overhaul at arXiv, the massive open-access research hub, according to the Cornell Chronicle.
Cornell Tech, which runs arXiv, will use the funding to move fully to the cloud, modernize its code, and develop smarter tools to help users discover relevant preprints.
NASA’s grant also backs new search features and expands arXiv into space-focused topics like planetary science, while Schmidt’s support helps scale operations without downtime.
