Schumer visits Odessa to fight SNAP cuts

Sen. Chuck Schumer stopped in Odessa Friday to rally support for his new bill reversing $200 billion in recent SNAP cuts, according to The Odessa File.

Speaking at the Wellness Warehouse food pantry, Schumer said the cuts threaten food access for thousands in the Southern Tier — including 2,000 residents in Schuyler County alone. His bill, the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act, aims to fully restore the funding.

Local food bank and charity leaders joined Schumer to highlight growing demand, with the Odessa pantry already serving nearly 300 people this month.
