A hand recount confirmed Laurence Jaynes beat Erich Asperschlager by just two votes—353 to 351—for the District 2 seat, according to the Schuyler County Board of Elections.
In another razor-thin finish, write-in candidate Heather Waters won Town of Orange Supervisor by a single vote—145 to 144 over Maryann Friebis.
Final tallies also cemented wins for Robert Halpin, Gail Walker, and Jeffrey Fazzary in other legislative districts. Town races saw Dominick Smith, Meredith Bump, and a trio of Hector council candidates clinch victory.
