ORANGE GAME DAY: Syracuse football visits Notre Dame (preview)

Syracuse football closes out its road schedule today with one of its toughest tests of the season, traveling to South Bend to face No. 9 Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. on NBC. The matchup marks the Orange’s last non-conference game of the 2025 campaign before returning home for the November 29 finale against Boston College at the JMA Wireless Dome. At 3-7 overall, Syracuse enters its second straight road trip against a ranked opponent, continuing a stretch that has featured multiple teams coming off College Football Playoff appearances.

A young Syracuse roster will once again be in the spotlight, as the program continues to lean heavily on its underclassmen. Fifty-seven players who are redshirt sophomores or younger have appeared in at least one game this year, and 16 of them have made at least one start. They’ll face a surging Notre Dame team that has rebounded from an 0-2 start by winning eight straight, including a 37-15 victory at Pittsburgh last weekend. The Fighting Irish have been one of the nation’s most productive offenses, averaging 38.3 points per game, while running back Jeremiyah Love enters the weekend ranked fourth nationally in rushing yards.

This will be Syracuse’s latest opportunity to hand a ranked opponent its first loss to the Orange this season, and a breakthrough win would also give head coach Fran Brown his fifth victory against a top-25 team since arriving in 2024. Notre Dame controls the all-time series, and Syracuse will look to reverse recent history while measuring itself against one of the country’s hottest programs.
