Police have arrested an Ithaca man in connection with an armed robbery that took place last week in the city’s downtown.
Officers say 18-year-old Jacob D. Chaires was taken into custody Monday after being spotted near the 600 block of West Clinton Street. He was wanted in connection with a November 13 robbery in which a victim reported being held at gunpoint while money was forcibly taken.
According to the Ithaca Police Department, the victim identified Chaires as a known suspect. After interviewing him, investigators charged Chaires with second-degree robbery, a Class B felony.
He was arraigned before Judge Seth Peacock and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail on $10,000 bail.
