Two community-focused nonprofits are joining forces to strengthen support for teens and families in Geneva.
Ontario Cares, formerly known as the Partnership for Ontario County, and the FLX Unity Center announced a new partnership this week. The two groups will share space at 81 North Street — the future home of Ontario Cares’ Epic Zone teen drop-in program and now the new base for FLX Unity Center as well.
The collaboration aims to expand access to mentoring, education, creative arts, and wellness programs. Both organizations say the move is about more than space — it’s about building long-term, community-rooted support.
“This partnership reflects what both organizations value most: supporting young people in ways that uplift the entire community,” said Gwen Van Laeken, executive director of Ontario Cares.
Geneva Town Supervisor Jim Kennedy praised the initiative, citing the building’s location, layout, and potential as key reasons for supporting the project.
Unity through action in Ward 5
FLX Unity Center co-founder Allauna Overstreet-Gibson, who also serves as program coordinator at Epic Zone, called the partnership a major win for underserved teens.
“This work will be a significant asset to Ward 5 and those with limited resources,” she said. “Through unity, communication, and transparency, this partnership will provide meaningful events and programming while serving as an important resource for Geneva’s underserved youth.”
