Thanksgiving turkey prices are up nationwide, but Tops Friendly Markets is bucking the trend, RochesterFirst reports. Despite a 40% spike in wholesale costs due to avian flu outbreaks affecting over 18 million birds, Tops is holding its price at just $0.48 per pound — same as last year.
Nationally, turkey prices are averaging $1.32 per pound, but Tops says it’s committed to keeping holiday meals affordable. The store is also offering a $10 coupon toward a Thanksgiving feast for shoppers who spend $100 through Nov. 15.
Prices for other holiday staples like eggs, milk, and potatoes remain steady or lower than last year.
