Free Saturday parking to end in Ithaca in 2026

Ithaca will begin charging for Saturday parking next year as part of its 2026 budget, aiming to close a $2.1 million deficit, according to The Ithaca Voice.

The Common Council approved the change on Nov. 5, ending years of free weekend parking downtown. Garage rates will rise to $2.25 per hour, while street parking stays at $1.50. Sunday parking remains free. The new fees are expected to raise $322,000 in revenue.

A proposal to charge for parking at Stewart Park failed in a close vote after concerns over public input.
