A domestic dispute earlier this month led to felony charges for an Auburn man after police say he assaulted a woman and stole her phone before fleeing the scene.
According to a media release from the Auburn Police Department, officers responded to the area of Parker Street and Fitch Avenue around 4:17 a.m. for a reported domestic incident. During their investigation, police say Eric Ostrander Jr. had been arguing with a woman at his residence. When she left on foot, Ostrander allegedly followed her, pushed her to the ground, and forcibly took her cell phone from her hand before running away.
Responding officers were unable to locate Ostrander at the time. However, on November 6, police found him at his home and took him into custody.
He was charged with third-degree robbery, a Class D felony; petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation. Ostrander was taken to Auburn Police Headquarters for processing and later transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
