A mother and daughter from Dundee were arrested over the weekend after allegedly stealing groceries from a self-checkout at a Penn Yan supermarket — and are also accused in a prior theft at the same store.
Penn Yan Police say 31-year-old Gabrielle Nemeth and 60-year-old Angela Nemeth were caught loading groceries into their car when officers arrived at the store. The pair provided a receipt, but it showed they had only paid for a small portion of the items taken.
Both women were arrested and charged with two counts of petit larceny — one for Saturday’s incident and one connected to a previous theft identified during the investigation. They were transported to the police department for processing and later released with appearance tickets.
They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
