Midlakes Theatre Experience opens its fall production this Thursday with a fresh spin on a classic comedy.
‘The Odd Couple (Female Version)’ hits the stage November 13–16 at the Black Box Theatre in Clifton Springs. Performances run Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
In this retelling of Neil Simon’s iconic play, the spotlight shifts to Florence Unger and Olive Madison—two women navigating friendship, chaos, and mismatched personalities in a New York City apartment. Mackenzie Weitzel (Class of ’28) stars as the obsessively neat Florence, while Hayden Bump plays the carefree and messy Olive.
Directed by alum Marie Fischer (Class of 2015), with assistant directors Mikayla Wilkes and Stefan Uveges, the production boasts a talented crew of Midlakes grads behind the scenes. Cris Brown leads technical elements, with lighting by Ross Gifford and props by Trevor Barcomb.

The show also features Cecelia Clemons, Allison DeRuyter, Ellie Dorr, and Liesl Dorr as the tight-knit group of friends who replace the traditional poker night crowd. Seniors Justin Herman and Gavin Ruggles round out the cast as the charming Costazuela brothers.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $8 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at local businesses in Clifton Springs, Phelps, Canandaigua, and Geneva. Tickets will also be available at the door for $2 more.
