Ithaca’s Common Council approved key amendments and a $2.4 million stopgap plan to close a budget gap, bringing the city’s $111.4 million 2026 budget close to final approval, according to The Ithaca Voice.
The shortfall, blamed on an accounting error, led to new measures like Saturday parking fees and a $500,000 boost for TCAT to avoid service cuts. Council also added funds for the public library and mental health co-response team.
The budget, which raises the property tax rate slightly, faces a final vote on Nov. 12 amid concerns over missing unarmed responder programs.
