Senior forward Seneca Urban scored just over a minute into overtime to lift the William Smith hockey team to a 3-2 comeback win over St. John Fisher on Saturday night at the Rochester Ice Center.

Six Herons recorded a point in the victory, which moved William Smith to 2-0-0 on the season, the program’s first 2-0 start since 2019. Junior goaltender Julia Chase earned the win in her first collegiate start, stopping 24 shots. Brynn Bacak made 26 saves for the Cardinals (2-2-0), who were playing their first home game in program history.
William Smith held a 29-26 edge in shots on goal and went 0-for-1 on the power play, while St. John Fisher finished 1-for-3 with the extra skater.
The Cardinals struck first just under two minutes into the game when Josie Palumbo scored from the slot. The Herons tied it midway through the opening period as sophomore Bella Hacker buried a loose puck for her second goal of the season. St. John Fisher regained the lead in the second on a power-play goal from Ellie Pranter, but William Smith answered late in regulation when sophomore Ainsley Lonczak scored from the left circle to even the game.
In overtime, Urban netted the game-winner 1:06 into the frame, firing a shot from the slot into the top corner.
The Herons return to action Friday, November 14, at Plattsburgh to open SUNYAC play.
