Junior Mia Iwicki earned the start in goal for William Smith, stopping all 25 shots she faced for her third career shutout. St. John Fisher goaltender Brynn Bacak made 47 saves in just under 58 minutes of action, facing significantly more shots than in her first two games of the season.

The first period saw William Smith control the pace, finishing with a 16-7 advantage in shots, including five on the power play for the Cardinals. The game’s scoring opened in the second period when sophomore Bella Hacker collected a pass from Maddie Twombly, broke down the left wing, and fired a wrist shot past Bacak. Senior captain Kelly Howe added a second goal later in the period, picking up a loose puck below the goal line and flipping it into the net.

William Smith finished the game with a 49-25 edge in shots, while both teams went 0-for-5 on the power play. Despite a strong third-period push and an extra attacker, St. John Fisher could not find the back of the net.

Box Score

The two teams will meet again to close out the regular-season series on Saturday, November 7, in Fairport, New York, with puck drop set for 6 p.m.
