Hobart football dominated from start to finish in a 63-6 Liberty League rout of Hilbert on Saturday, amassing 456 total yards, including a season-best 321 on the ground. The win was the Statesmen’s third straight, improving them to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Junior running back E.J. Taylor powered the offense with 148 rushing yards and three touchdowns, surpassing 1,000 yards on the season. He also added a receiving score as part of a four-touchdown day. Seniors Byron Maddox Jr. and Tahj Jackson, along with sophomore Tristan Reynolds, each added more than 40 rushing yards and a touchdown. Quarterbacks Jeremy Weiss and Tru Styles both threw touchdown passes, with Weiss completing 8-of-11 attempts for 113 yards.
Sophomore receiver Johnny Harding caught seven passes for 72 yards and two scores, extending his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 20, the seventh longest in program history. Kicker Luke Monteyne tied a Hobart record by converting all nine extra points.
Defensively, the Statesmen held Hilbert’s triple-option offense to just 111 total yards. Senior linebacker Mike McGhee and junior lineman Hunter Vos each made six tackles, while Vos and first-year Isa Abdus-Salaam recorded two tackles for loss apiece.
The victory marked one of Hobart’s highest offensive outputs in program history, tying for the third most points in a single game.
The Statesmen close the regular season next Saturday, hosting Buffalo State at 1 p.m. on Boswell Field.
