A national economic leader who helped bring billions in investment to Delaware will soon head up economic development efforts in Tompkins County.
Ithaca Area Economic Development announced Monday that Kurt Foreman will become its new president starting January 2026.
Foreman currently serves as president and CEO of the Delaware Prosperity Partnership. During his seven-year tenure, he helped attract more than $3.5 billion in capital investment and supported over 11,000 jobs.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kurt to Ithaca, Tompkins County, and IAED,” said Jodi Lee Denman, chair of the IAED board. “His proven experience and leadership ability will help guide our organization as we continue to evolve and bolster the local economy.”
Foreman brings more than 30 years of experience in economic development, with previous leadership roles in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and the Washington D.C. metro area. He also spent time as an executive recruiter and is a seasoned site selector—skills that IAED leaders say will benefit local businesses.
Greg Hartz, who chaired the search committee, called Foreman “the ideal candidate to lead IAED into its next chapter.”
Foreman said he’s eager to get started.
