ORANGE GAME DAY: Syracuse men’s basketball opens season at home against Binghamton (preview)

Syracuse basketball tips off its 2025-26 campaign tonight when it hosts Binghamton at the JMA Wireless Dome. The season opener, scheduled for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra, marks the third year under head coach Adrian Autry. The Orange enter the matchup following exhibition wins over Buffalo and Pace.

Senior guard J.J. Starling and sophomore forward Donnie Freeman headline Syracuse’s returning core. Starling, the team’s leading scorer last season at 17.8 points per game, earned Preseason All-ACC Second Team honors. Freeman returns healthy after his freshman year was cut short by injury and impressed in the exhibition finale with 22 points and nine rebounds. Syracuse also bolstered its lineup with six transfers, including playmaking guard Naithan George from Georgia Tech and UCLA center William Kyle III, while highly touted freshmen Kiyan Anthony and Sadiq White Jr. have already made an impact in preseason action.

Binghamton begins its fifth season under head coach Levell Sanders after posting a 15-17 record in 2023-24. The Bearcats feature a nearly rebuilt roster, adding nine newcomers and six Division I transfers, led by America East Preseason All-Conference pick Demetrius Lilley.

Syracuse has dominated the all-time series 5-0, with each meeting taking place at the Dome, including a 93-65 win in 2013.
