A Rochester woman is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly using another person’s identity following a shoplifting arrest earlier this month, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Crystal Rosio Mendoza Paulin, 32, of Vick Park in Rochester, was arrested on October 30 at the Sheriff’s Office Substation in Eastview Mall. She turned herself in after an investigation linked her to identity theft and other crimes stemming from an earlier larceny incident.
Deputies say the charges include petit larceny, identity theft, falsifying business records, and criminal impersonation.
The case originated on October 3, when Mendoza Paulin was arrested for allegedly stealing $436 worth of merchandise from Von Maur, a department store inside Eastview Mall. During her arrest, deputies say she provided another person’s identity and driver’s license — leading to the new charges after further investigation by law enforcement and the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office.
Mendoza Paulin was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in Victor Town Court at a later date.
The case was investigated by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office.
