A deadly electrical fire broke out in the motor room at Upstate Shredding in Owego Thursday evening, killing one worker and injuring two firefighters, according to WBNG.
Crews from multiple departments responded just before 6 p.m. and knocked down the blaze within 40 minutes, officials said. The injured firefighters were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The company’s owner, Adam Weitsman, said on Facebook the victim was a “beloved teammate.” Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
