Canandaigua woman arrested after motel altercation

A Canandaigua woman is facing criminal charges after a violent incident at a local motel involving a child witness, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Zoelin X. Streeter, 19, was arrested on October 30 at the Super 8 Motel on Route 5&20 in the Town of Canandaigua. She has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment in the Second Degree following a reported disturbance.

According to investigators, deputies were called to the motel by a third party who reported that two individuals were fighting and throwing items inside a room. When officers arrived, both individuals were outside and initially refused to cooperate or provide details.

While deputies were on the scene, Streeter suddenly ran toward the other person involved and began striking them repeatedly in front of law enforcement — and in full view of a child.

Deputies immediately intervened and took Streeter into custody. She was transported to the Ontario County Jail and held for centralized arraignment.

The incident remains under investigation and was assisted by a New York State Trooper and Ontario County Child Protective Services. Streeter is scheduled to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
