Victor closes in on $4.5M grant for downtown upgrades

Victor’s push to revitalize its downtown just got a major boost — and now the village is one step closer to a multi-million-dollar win.

After months of public outreach, the Village of Victor and its Local Development Corporation wrapped up the latest phase of their NY Forward grant campaign. Their goal? Secure $4.5 million in state funding to transform downtown.

The campaign, called “Our Voice, Our Vision, Our Victor(y),” drew more than 200 individual survey responses and dozens of proposed projects. Officials said the feedback spanned all age groups and focused heavily on supporting local businesses, improving trails and walkability, and adding park amenities.

Responses were gathered through a mix of digital platforms and in-person events, from the Farmer’s Market to the local library. Village officials say that kind of engagement made the application more competitive.

The final application heads to the state in early November.

Victor residents will get a closer look at what’s been submitted during a public info session on Monday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at Village Hall. The event will include a short presentation on the NY Forward application and what comes next.

If the village wins the grant — an announcement is expected in early 2026 — a state-led planning committee will begin the process of choosing which projects get funded. That could include proposals already submitted or new ones yet to be pitched.

Officials say the community’s input will continue to play a major role in shaping the future of downtown.
