Canandaigua candidates earn major local endorsements ahead of election

A slate of candidates in the Town of Canandaigua is picking up key endorsements ahead of this November’s election — including support from a retired New York State Supreme Court justice and a longtime town official.

Retired Justice Craig Doran and Highway and Water Superintendent Jim Fletcher are backing a full ticket of local candidates, praising their leadership, ethics, and dedication to the community.

The endorsed candidates include:

  • Jared Simpson for Town Supervisor
  • Terry Fennelly and Mick Szoczei for Town Board
  • Crystelyn Laske for Town Clerk
  • Jim Fletcher for re-election as Highway and Water Superintendent
  • Rick Roxin for Town Justice

Justice Doran, who spent over 30 years serving Ontario County and surrounding areas, called the group “extraordinary public servants” who will “put the people they serve first.”

“I am proud to stand alongside these leaders and urge my fellow Town of Canandaigua residents to vote for them this year,” Doran said in the release. “Their leadership, dedication, and vision reflect the very best of what public service should be.”

Superintendent Fletcher echoed that support, emphasizing the candidates’ teamwork and commitment to the town.

“In the Town of Canandaigua, we are fortunate to have an incredible team of elected officials that work together each day to make our community stronger,” he said. “I encourage you to support these outstanding candidates.”

Current Town Supervisor Jared Simpson thanked both Doran and Fletcher for their endorsements, and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to responsible government and local quality of life.

“Our shared mission has always been to deliver responsible and transparent government while protecting the incredible quality of life that makes this town so special,” Simpson said.

Voters will decide the races on Election Day in November. The endorsed candidates have pledged to focus on public safety, parks, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility if elected.
