Union Springs inducts 17 students into National Junior Honor Society

Union Springs Middle School welcomed 17 new student leaders into the National Junior Honor Society during a formal induction ceremony celebrating academic excellence and service.

The event, held for the school’s Frontenac Chapter, highlighted NJHS pillars like scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Returning members helped guide the evening and escorted the new inductees to the stage.

NJHS President Grace Baliva led the program, which included a welcome from Principal Ms. Haldeman and a presentation of the selection criteria by members Isabella Church and Giuliana Pedley. The symbolic candle-lighting ceremony honored each NJHS pillar, with current members representing each trait.

The 2025–2026 inductees are:
Aiden Boulerice, Layla Brooks, Gianna Cassavaugh, Owen Chalupnicki, Brayden Coomber, Elliott Fleury, Samuel Intres, Kinsley Loveless, Adrian Mennerich, Orrin Merizzi, Samantha Miller, Naomi Schell, Claire Schenck, Carmen Scobee, Lucas Smith, Greta Staehr, and Isabella VanHouten.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional Tapping Ceremony, presentation of certificates, and the NJHS Pledge.

“We are proud to welcome these outstanding students into the NJHS,” Principal Haldeman said. “Their dedication to leadership, service, and character is inspiring.”
