Watkins Glen and Bradford schools continue merger discussions

Watkins Glen and Bradford school districts are exploring a merger to address declining enrollment and tight budgets, according to WENY. Talks began in September, though informal discussions started a year ago between both superintendents.

A merger could bring over $55 million in state aid across 14 years. Leaders say it’s part of a statewide push to consolidate and share services for cost savings and better opportunities.

No timeline is set, but a public vote and state approval would be required. Officials stress that community input will guide next steps, with student needs driving the decision.
