Zombies, Shakespeare, and sibling drama take center stage this fall as Cayuga Community College’s student theatre troupe brings Halloween to life — with a comedic twist.
Harlequin Productions is back with Undead & Unscripted, a set of four one-act plays mixing horror and humor. Performances run October 23–25 and October 30–November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Irene A. Bisgrove Theatre on the Auburn campus.
Director Bob Frame said the plays push students to explore multiple roles while poking fun at Halloween tropes. “It’s been a while since we’ve featured a Halloween-themed show,” he said. “We thought it would be fun to take some of the stock Halloween creatures — zombies, for example — and drop them into a comedy.”
Three of the plays lean into spooky themes:
- Shakespeare Lives follows a man who resurrects Shakespeare to write a sonnet.
- Late Arrival features a weary traveler and a bizarre hotel clerk.
- Night of the Living Relative tells the story of a sibling who turns into a zombie.
A fourth piece, Playwright Writes a Play, breaks from the Halloween theme and centers on a writer battling creative block.
The cast includes Hope Campbell, Tessa Higgins, Aiden Hodson, Kronous Panek, Dracen Walter, and Rosa Wellington. Tamia Karugu and Jacob Soltero make up the crew.
