The Cornell men’s soccer team rallied past Syracuse, earning a 2-1 victory Tuesday night at Berman Field to improve to 10-2-1 on the season. The Orange fell to 6-6-2 with the loss.

After a defensive first half, Syracuse struck first in the 26th minute, converting off a corner kick for the game’s opening goal. Cornell nearly broke through earlier but missed just wide in the third minute, as both teams kept scoring chances limited.
The Big Red found their equalizer in the 62nd minute when Westin Carnevale buried a penalty kick to even the match at 1-1. Fifteen minutes later, persistent Cornell pressure paid off. Following a flurry of shots inside the box, Blake Donahue pounced on a loose ball and finished to give the Big Red a 2-1 lead.
Goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg made one save to secure his 10th win of the season, as Cornell’s defense held firm down the stretch to fend off Syracuse’s late push. Andrew Johnson provided the assist on Donahue’s game-winner.
The Big Red returns to Berman Field on Saturday for Senior Night against Brown, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. Meanwhile, Syracuse will host No. 17 North Carolina 3 p.m.
