Cayuga County residents will have a safe and free way to dispose of old medications later this month.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The collection site will be at Terry’s Food Mart, located at 11314 South Street in Cato.
Organizers will be accepting a wide range of items, including prescription pills, patches, pet medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, ointments, and medical samples. There’s no cost to drop off medications.
However, needles and sharps will not be accepted.
The goal of the event is to help reduce the risk of accidental misuse and keep potentially dangerous medications out of the wrong hands.
