Finger Lakes Community College will host an online lecture next week exploring the final chapter of the Civil War, marking 160 years since the Confederacy’s collapse.
Historian and author Robert M. Dunkerly will give the virtual talk on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. The presentation, based on his book To the Bitter End: Appomattox, Bennett Place and the Surrenders of the Confederacy, will be available to stream on Webex, Finger Lakes TV, and YouTube. Viewing links are posted on the FLCC events calendar at flcc.edu/events.
Dunkerly is a seasoned Civil War scholar and park ranger at Richmond National Battlefield Park. His talk will focus on the little-known surrenders that followed Appomattox, shedding light on how the war’s final days played out across the South.
The event is part of FLCC’s ongoing History, Culture, and Diversity Series, organized by history professor Robert Brown.
